Welcome to the Impact Report!

“Summer should get a speeding ticket."  – Unknown

Wow! What a whirlwind! From attending national conferences to teaching local classes, Team Impact spent the summer soaking up knowledge. It’s hard to believe that fall is upon us, yet with the federal fiscal year beginning and the calendar year’s 4th quarter staring us down, summer has clearly left the building.

But don’t worry. No need to say goodbye to weekend getaways simply because the season changed. Take this time to massage your business plan, indulge yourself in an updated editorial calendar, or simply relax and unwind with a fascinating and captivating Ted Talk.

How will you pamper your business and spoil your team? Remember to focus on teamwork and teaming. So, instead of stressing over how quickly the summer months flew by, take a deep breath, think intentionally and embrace this new season with a refreshed attitude and updated purpose.

Spoiler Alert - I intend to treat myself to a Simon Sinek webinar, start with Why, and then inspire action.

Happy Dreaming!

An Impact Summer: More than Menial Tasks

At Impact, everything is extraordinary – including our internship program. This summer Rutgers University student Morgan Ulrich and NJIT graduate Wuraola Ogunnowo had real-time, real-life, hands-on experience in media relations, marketing communications, digital marketing, social media, event management, and web design and development. They left the program with new knowledge and tangible skills for college achievements and career advancement.

Impact Fall Internship Program

We welcomed Morgan Ulrich back for our fall internship program. She resumed her outstanding work in media and public relations. International student Shwetha Krishna and Ramapo College senior Janiya Wade also joined us this fall. Shwetha, a Rutgers graduate student brings her information technology and analytics knowledge to Impact. Janiya’s business administration and management skills contribute to our team’s social strategies.

Impact President and CEO Cheryl McCants was a featured speaker last October at the Institute for Supply Management’s 2018 Women and Leadership Conference: Leaving Your Legacy. Cheryl led an interactive session in Somerset, New Jersey, where she developed a roadmap for attendees with three essential takeaways, 1) manage your personal brand, 2) read the room and 3) don’t apologize for being you.

In October, nearly 30 women leaders in technology from the Tri-State area gathered for an afternoon of dynamic dialogue, discernment, and dining. The event was hosted by PKA Technologies and powered by Impact. Participants enjoyed a “Power Talk” led by Linda Clemons. HPE’s Global VP Michelle Weiss prompted leaders to share their stories and perspectives about being top executives in technology.

In November, Cheryl, a voracious continuous learner, participated in the Building a High-Performance Minority Business week-long program offered by Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth in partnership with the Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance. The program focused on strategy implementation to drive results, leveraging your organization's value chain and improving participants' bottom line. Special shout out to both Jade Melvin and Kevin Price.

This holiday season, we networked with fellow members, their guests, and sponsors at the Newark Regional Business Partnership’s Annual Meeting and Holiday Reception. The NRBP is a voice for member businesses, focusing on issues that impact economic growth and vitality in the Newark business community and the region.

The year culminated with Cheryl attending Bevan Capital’s Investments and Partnerships Gala in New York, where she dined and networked with U.S. and international entrepreneurs, investors, and executives. His excellency Zulfiquar Z. Ghadiyali was present and met with gala attendees to discuss investments and cooperation opportunities between Abu Dhabi, UAE, and the U.S. The Royal Reception was in honor of Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Saeed Al Nahyan.
